يقول الإمام الشافعي: لا يُدرِكُ الحِكمَةَ مَن عُمرُهُImam Shafi’i says:
He does not understand wisdom from his age
He toils in the interest of the parents.
And no one attains knowledge but a boy
Free from thoughts and work.
If Luqman was the Wise who
The riders walked thanks to him.
I am poor and dependent for what
He separated the hay and the herb.
Qasim Haddad says:
Wisdom that birds have their mistakes
like wonder
It is the wisdom of the bird
That sins are gone.
Ibn Khafajah says:
It is sufficient wisdom of God that you are
dust as He made you equal before He equalized you.
And if you want to see, how can you be second?
and without you, see how the first became you.
So are you in the courtyard paved?
Your place in the abode and your home يَكدَحُ في مَصلَحَةِ الأَهلِ. وَلا يَنالُ العِلمَ إِلّا فَتىً خالٍ مِنَ الأَفكارِ وَالشُغلِ. لَو أَنَّ لُقمانَ الحَكيمَ الَّذي سارَت بِهِ الرُكبانُ بِالفَضلِ. بُلي بِفَقرٍ وَعِيالٍ لَما فَرَّقَ بَينَ التِبنِ وَالبَقلِ. يقول قاسم حداد: حكمةٌ أنَّ للطير أخطاءَه مثلما يستبدُّ العجَبْ ومن حكمةِ الطير أن الخطايا ذهبْ. يقول ابن خفاجة: كَفى حِكمَةً لِلَّهِ أَنَّكَ صائِرٌ تُراباً كَما سَوّاكَ قَبلُ فَعَدَّلَك. وَإِن شِئتَ مَرأى كَيفَ كَوَّنَ ثانِياً فَدونَكَ فَاِنظُر كَيفَ كَوَّنَ أَوَّلَك. فَهَل أَنتَ في دارِ الفَناءِ مُمَهَّدٌ مَحَلُّكَ في دارِ البَقاءِ وَمَنزِلُك.
